Kala and her kittens need your compassion! This Mother’s Day, you can help this mother and her litter receive the care they need.
Kala was rescued when a woman spotted her eating bird seed out of a feeder. Snow was on the ground and poor Kala was so hungry she was desperate. She was also very pregnant.
When no owner stepped forward, Kala was transported to a shelter ready to accommodate her litter, but the birth just couldn't wait. Staff met the transport van prepared for a pregnant cat, but instead saw a mom and five newborn kittens. Imagine giving birth to five babies in a crate in a bumpy van, surrounded by other animals.
Soon, Kala and her kittens were in the care of experienced fosters, but after a couple weeks of caring for her kittens, Kala's health began to deteriorate. At the vet she was given antibiotics, anti-nausea medication and fluids, but ultimately it was decided Kala should be temporarily separated from her kittens so she could recuperate.
You can help Kala and her kittens live long, healthy lives after a rough start. Your gift will directly cover the costs of Kala's treatment and her kittens' care. The family has now been reunited and all are growing strong!
Help us meet our goal of $1,000 to give Kala and her kittens the critical care they need to be fully healthy and ready for forever homes. Funds raised over the goal amount will go to help provide medical care to other shelter pets.
