Save dogs from the illegal meat trade and give them happy lives!

The Asian dog meat trade tortures, neglects and abuses millions of animals annually. Not only are dogs confined and transported under horrible conditions, and denied food, water and care, but they are often tortured and abused when "harvested," based on the belief that the fear the animals experience before dying makes the meat taste better. Whether dogs are raised specifically for meat in puppy mill–like conditions of squalor or snatched from the streets, there is no regard for them as sentient beings.

Motley Zoo Animal Rescue in Washington believes pets are family, not food, and is committed to securing these scared and abused animals safe forever homes. Staff work to rehabilitate them physically and emotionally, and ensure their new families are well equipped with knowledge and support so they'll continue to learn that life (and people) can be fun, enjoyable and comforting rather than terrifying. Motley Zoo also works to educate the public on the horrific nature of the illegal dog meat trade and advocate for its end.

The Zoo has saved dogs like Adam Rippon and Kirk Douglas, pictured above, who came to Motley after being rescued from the trade. Adam had a limp from a broken leg and was mostly blind, but a loving adopter was excited to help him recover long-term, and even made him an Instagram. Kirk lived a rough life on the streets for five years, but now has a fantastic family who admires his strength.

You can help bring rescued dogs to America and get them into loving homes. Your gift will help Motley Zoo fly over more rescued dogs from Asia, increase their intake capacity, provide more veterinary care and train more foster families. Motley and others are working to end the illegal dog meat trade once and for all, and you can aid in that effort. Give today!
