Support employment training for people with disabilities to bake dog biscuits with recycled yeast from local brewery.
The mission of this program is to integrate adults with intellectual challenges and developmental disabilities into society by providing workforce training, promoting sustainability and greater community inclusion.
Greater Good Charities is partnered with Gateway to Learning to offer life skills and workforce training through its key programming - a culinary arts program. Unique to this program is a collaborative partnership with a local Chicago brewery who is providing recycled yeast for the production of the dog biscuits that are then sold at the bakery. This program is designed and modified for adults with various disabilities including Autism and Down syndrome. Gateway to Learning also focuses on skill acquisition, development, and mastery in key life areas, including: academia, employment, citizenship, empowerment and advocacy, and daily living/home life.
Not only do the participants in Gateway to Learning’s programming benefit through a fuller life experience, but so does every family member of the participant, every employer of a person with a disability, and the community in general.
You can help. Just $7 can provide training, and help people with all abilities find employment.
Gateway to Learning’s mission is to provide lifelong learning for adults with intellectual challenges and developmental disabilities that promotes active inclusion at home, at work, and in the community.
