Join GreaterGood.org's The Jackson Galaxy Project and The Animal Rescue Site as we work to transport shelter cats to safety nationwide.
When it comes to saving the lives of shelter pets, no one needs our help more than cats. Each year, an estimated 3.4 million cats enter the shelter system. Unfortunately, only 21% make it out. At least part of the problem comes from the fact that many shelters in the southern U.S. have too many cats for their town's population. In the summer months, during kitten season, the overpopulation problem becomes even worse. However, there are shelters across the U.S. who have waiting lists for cats, and could successfully adopt out hundreds more. The solution? Bring cats from overcrowded shelters to locations where they can find their forever homes.
That's why The Jackson Galaxy Project launched Operation Homeward Bound. Jackson is working to transport cats at risk of euthanasia via ground or air to receiving shelters for adoption. It's a simple solution that saves real lives. Our next transport is July 24th, where we'll be partnering with Wings of Rescue to fly over 100 cats to safety, and we need your help to make this project a reality.
