Over 30 lions were rescued from abuse in the circus. Now we need your help to give them the sanctuary they deserve!
GreaterGood.org partners with ADI to rescue animals; build temporary rescue centers to provide food, provide care and veterinary attention, and process the documentation needed to get them to forever homes in sanctuaries across the world, including the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary in South Africa.
In 2014 and 2015, Animal Defenders undertook the biggest rescue mission of its kind to track down every illegal circus in Peru and rescue the animals. 24 African lions were saved from extreme neglect and abuse and nine lions were saved from a Colombian circus. ADI began the process to rebuild their lives. ADI now has a team in Guatemala helping enforce the ban on animals in circuses. We have removed fifteen tigers and six lions from circuses and they are cared for at the ADI Temporary Custody Center.
Over 450 acres of beautiful natural grassland has been secured in South Africa, with trees, lakes, four strong water boreholes, excellent accommodations for volunteers and workers, and space for an education center and on-site veterinary facilities.
With your help, ADI will turn this into a paradise for animals. Safe, secure, and monitored, but with the space where they can live as close as possible to the freedom they lost.
You can help! Just $5 helps secure a paradise for these rescued lions!
A true survivor, Ricardo has endured some tough times! Confiscated from a circus, Ricardo was placed in a zoo, where he remained until ADI’s Operation Spirit of Freedom. Tragedy struck though when ADI went to pick him up. The zoo had anesthetized Ricardo and he had an extreme adverse drug reaction, suffering repeated seizures over several hours. Our expert veterinary team worked to save him, and Ricardo survived his terrifying ordeal. Although this older one-eyed boy suffers from osteoarthritis he still loves life! Help lions like Ricardo live in paradise like they deserve.

I am too emotional to write about this clearly. This is a terrific idea. Please help!
