Help neglected birds have the free life they deserve!
Parrots are the 4th most popular companion pets in the United States. Nevertheless they are abandoned as often as cats and dogs. Some have behavioral issues, others are plucking their feathers out and are in need of medical care. Most shelters are not equipped to house larger parrots and end up in sanctuaries like Magnolia Exotic Bird Sanctuary. These birds require a lot of care and thrive when housed with other birds in an enclosure that makes them as free as possible. Some of the birds can live for over 80 years, and shouldn't be kept in small individual cages.
Housing birds such as the Amazons and Cockatoos in a large aviary is the best solution for all. The aviary provides freedom, companionship, fresh air and outside stimulation like sunrises, sunsets and rain which they love. During the short Texas winters where the aviary will be located, it will be safely covered with light and warmth for the birds. A walk in segmented communal aviary is easier to maintain as well allowing more time for caregivers to interact with the birds in their care. Magnolia Exotic Bird Sanctuary is raising funds to build a much needed aviary on site. With your help they can build this aviary for these beautiful deserving birds.
