Help send a child on a rhino drive to educate them about the rhinos in order to decrease poaching rates.
Throughout Africa, rhinos are being slaughtered at an unprecedented rate. In South Africa, 1,215 rhinos were killed in 2014 — that's one rhino killed every eight hours. In rural communities nearby protected wildlife areas many villagers are disconnected from their majestic neighbors. Because rural children are not afforded the opportunity to experience wildlife in their natural environment, they easily move into the poaching world. A lack of emotional connection to the wildlife surrounding them leaves these children immune to the devastating effects of poaching.
By taking local youth out into the wilderness and allowing them to interact and experience rhino and other wildlife, the Wildlife Act Fund (WAF) helps facilitate an emotional connection with wildlife. WAF has found that these guided, educational "Rhino Drives" result in a greater understanding of the devastating effects of poaching. By fostering a sense of appreciation and respect for animals, WAF is helping to save one of Africa's most precious resources — its endangered wildlife.
You can help. Each $5.00 donation pays for one child to participate on a guided Rhino Drive.
Wildlife ACT Fund helps rural communities who live alongside protected wildlife areas to develop a love and respect for nature, provide them with reasons to protect it, and advance economic empowerment.
