Help feed students participating in the Gu Vo Youth Educational Program.

The Tohono O'odham are a group of Native American people who reside primarily in the Sonoran Desert of southeastern Arizona and northwest Mexico. "Tohono O'odham" means "Desert People."

In an effort to combat high dropout rates among Native Americans and the increasing prevalence of Type II Diabetes, The Native American Advancement Foundation (NAAF) has partnered with the District of Gu Vo on the Tohono O'odham Nation to support the Gu Vo Youth Program. This after school program nourishes mind and body with reading, math, and art activities taught by native community members, fitness clinics supervised by the Healthy O'odham Promotion Program (HOPP), and nutritional meals prepared using The Mayo Clinic Kids' Cookbook.

The healthy snacks and dinners are designed to keep the students' minds and bodies active, and in doing so celebrate wellness and community. Eating well is not only good for the body; the brain needs nutrients, too, so that young minds can grow and develop.

You can help. Just $5 provides nutritious, wholesome meals to students in the Gu Vo Academic After-School Program.

Recently, NAAF wrote in to share the impact your generous donations have had:

The grant received from GreaterGood.org to feed the Gu Vo Academic After-School Program students healthy meals impacted the Native American Advancement Foundation is an incredibly positive way. The grant helped us serve over 13,000 nutritious dinners and snacks to youth who would otherwise go to bed hungry. Not to mention how this brain food helped with their daily lessons and homework help through our program. We appreciate the support of GreaterGood.org more than we can express! This was the first year zero of our after-school students dropped out of school, and for the first time all of our high school students are graduating! Thank you!
