Help Preserve and Restore Florida’s Coral Reef
An estimated 60% of coral reefs worldwide are dead or dying. But the situation is even graver here at home. In 2017, Hurricane Irma devastated Florida’s Coral Reef, one of only a handful of barrier reef systems still remaining in the U.S. Local and global stressors and an unprecedented coral disease outbreak have caused Florida’s Coral Reef to lose over 75% of its living coral—approximately 120,000 acres (100,000+ football fields). Scientists now suggest we may lose this vitally important ecosystem in our lifetime. We must act now!
Launched on Super Bowl Sunday in Miami, GreaterGood.org and FORCE BLUE have teamed up to create 100 Yards of Hope, a year-long coral reef restoration project that will bring much-needed attention to the plight of Florida’s Coral Reef and serve as a demonstration site for future restoration efforts around the globe.
You can be part of this historic mission. Your donations will fund the planting of various corals and organisms that make up a healthy reef. Just $20 helps fund the outplanting of one piece of coral on the 100 Yards of Hope site. In order to ensure that no more ocean life is lost, we must take action now.
You can help. Give today to bring these 100 yards back to life.
