Tribal and trendy, our Geometric Beaded Pendant Necklace makes a bold statement. Perfect for pairing with summer whites or denim for a great boho look. Each one is made by women bead artisans of La Casa in Guatemala.
Since 2000, La Casa Cotzal has designed a range of Guatemalan handicrafts produced by artisan communities throughout the country. Mayan women traditionally have been back-strap loom weavers, but increasingly they are learning to use pedal looms as well. In traditional Guatemalan weaving, the two main specialized techniques are ikat and supplementary weft brocade. Artisans at La Casa are versed in both weaving techniques as well as in intricate bead work. The work provided by La Casa is vital to the women's families and communities.

La Casa was founded as a retail store in Guatemala City in 1994. The primary goal has always been to find markets for the finest traditional Guatemalan crafts. The store sold fine vintage textiles, antique vernacular furniture as well as modern pieces upholstered in custom weaves, and museum quality folk art, including dance masks, santos, slingshots, and other items relating to the religious and everyday life of the indigenous Mayan population. They began to export in 1995.
La Casa aims to generate sustainable, optimum income-producing crafts production, including new opportunities for existing artisan groups, and training for incipient groups. They work in as many niches of markets as possible in order to assure work for as many capable artisans as they can.

Very cute necklace. I got the arrow and have gotten comments every time I've worn it. It is bright, colorful. light on the neck and seems to be very well made. A good buy.
