Help Save Our Birds from ExtinctionIn recent scientific studies, over the past 50 years, the US and Canada have lost close to 3 billion birds, leaving behind approximately 29% fewer birds than in 1970.
In the US alone, the role birds play in controlling insect pest populations on commercially valuable crops has been estimated to be worth millions of dollars. Birds also provide key benefits as pollinators and seed dispersers, while vultures provide a crucial service through the disposal of animal carcasses.
Today, the land our birds call home is being threatened by agricultural over-expansion, pesticides and insect control, logging, and climate change. Species living in grasslands have been affected the most due to the loss of habitat from agricultural expansion and lack of food due to pesticides used for insect control. These insects are the sole food source many of these birds count on for survival.
Project Peril, a program of Greater Good Charities, is committed to the conservation of birds throughout the US and Canada. Through our program, we are building natural refuges for local birds to have access to food and shelter.
You can help us save all bird species. With your support, we work to preserve and protect critical habitat, and put a stop to illegal hunting.
